I love supporting people in creating their best lives possible.
Through the wonders of technology, I work with couples and individuals wherever in the world they might be, whether by phone or in person from my Madison, Wisconsin office and in other locations as travel makes possible. I keep my practice small and intensive, so that I can offer each individual and couple with whom I work powerful, personalized attention and strategies for growth. For clients deeply committed to our work together, I offer reduced fee packages of 10 and 20 sessions to ensure our momentum. I open only 12 packages globally each year. Please inquire about the availability of these packages and the waiting list for them.
My areas of specialization include:
Although I am trained and licensed in psychotherapy, my approach reflects a coaching model. Years of university teaching and supporting students shape my education-oriented, skills-based style. In private work, expect warm, compassionate, intelligent support, clear and direct suggestions, enthusiastic encouragement, and powerful, honest guidance designed to help you achieve the goals you define and the life you design. With couples and with singles working to find mates, my work is informed by my third-level training in Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotion-focused Therapy, and the work of David Snaarch. I work with opposite sex, same sex, and genderqueer couples. If your goal is to stay together, my goal is to help you do that in ways that are growth-oriented, harmonious, and fluent in the skills that social science confirms as helping relationships hum.
I believe that your time is valuable. You seek out coaching because you want hope, relief, and progress in the direction of change sooner rather than later. You're already suffering, feeling stuck in problematic patterns, and facing troubling questions. It is true that the answers are inside you already --- but sometimes you need someone to help you figure out how to listen to them, as well as some additional tools and skills to take action on your answers. I would be delighted to be that someone for you.

My areas of specialization include:
- Helping you get out of and recover from crazy-making relationships.
- Providing support and guidance for partners, spouses, former partners and family members of people who behave in confusing, unstable, exploitative, verbally abusive, self-centered, manipulative, and generally crazy-making ways. Some diagnoses associated with those behaviors include Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and Anti-social Personality Disorder.
- Providing relief to people suffering with anxiety, panic, and depression as a result of toxic or crazy-making relationships.
- Providing support to people in their efforts to create happy, harmonious, securely attached partnerships through mindful dating and partnering practices --- this includes working with folks who are dating, newly coupled pairs, and long-term partners who may be experiencing difficulties because of residual issues from childhood attachment traumas or unstable relationships in adulthood. Things can get better!
